In the spirit of “Making People’s Dreams Come True”, a Design Consultant guides future Villagers through the creation and design of their “dream” home. A consultant’s wealth of knowledge, attention to detail, active listening skills and good question asking abilities allows them to personally tailor the design and build process for future homeowners.  This role is the perfect blend of customer interaction and behind the scenes project management. A Design Consultant experiences the joys of taking a home design concept through to completion; turning customer’s desires and wishes into reality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, select and coordinate homes & neighborhoods that integrate home environment, quality and overarching aesthetics.

Consult with current or future homeowners to create and design their dream home to include selections/specifications and floor plan modifications for construction.

Develop customer relationships and build bonds in order to develop trust and confidence; acting as a trusted advisor – making professional recommendations and suggestions when warranted. Must be able to distinguish and differentiate visible elements of design such as color, patterns, site size and appropriate model homes. 

Must be able to present to client by preparing quotes, conceptual drawings and professional assistance in selections.Must demonstrate proficiency in computer technology related to position (including the ability to use Internet, Microsoft Office Products, IBM  iSeries)Demonstrate effective qualification skills and utilizes professional home visits as needed to advance and close sales. Update and maintain work related materials and knowledge to include (but not limited to): product knowledge, technology updates, newly constructed homes on The Villages website and Vmail content. Collaborate with other departments and entities (Home Design Team, Agewave, Construction, Sales) for input and to maintain open channels of communication.

Monitor data to include (but not limited to): what sells, product improvements, product updates & changes Project and time management and excellent organizational skills are a must. Will also need to maintain current knowledge on trends, technology in home and commercial furnishings, patterns, color and style trends, and of all resources and vendor programs.

Requirements:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school preferred; or 1+ years of professional sales and customer service experience (luxury home design or home construction industry preferred).; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Design and/or construction experience desired but not required. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends. Must be proficient in the Microsoft family of programs (excel, outlook, etc ) and be able to lift up to 201bs to perform various duties and tasks.
