The Investment Analyst is responsible for providing back office and analytic support for Citizens First Bank’s investment process. Develop and refine risk-based analysis techniques to provide deep insights into current and prospective investments. Functions will be performed on a daily, weekly, monthly, annual or as needed basis and may require significant interaction with the Bank’s counterparties and vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze all municipal bond issuers in accordance with bank policy in order to assess the municipality’s ability to pay all interest and principal in a timely manner .

Monitor all municipal bond holdings on an ongoing basis to maintain adequate surveillance .

Maintain and refine key metrics to be used in evaluation of municipal securities .

Conduct monthly monitoring and credit analysis on private label CMO’s to ensure timely interest and principal payments.

Research, gather, and analyze complex financial information related to large corporate borrowers and develop sound interpretations of the data .

Assists with ongoing processing activities related to the portfolio of loans and investments .

Provides recommendations for continuous improvement of policies and processes . Produce recurring and ad hoc reporting .

Prepare pre-purchase analysis package.  Maintain files for portfolio investments . Interface with approved brokers as necessary .

Prepare cash flow analyses .

Collect and review all asset liability management (ALM) data for accuracy . Review ALM analysis . Cross train in Treasury area .

Position specific compliance and other trainings as required .

Minimum: Bachelor degree in finance, accounting or business or equivalent applicable experience. Must have strong organizational and analytical skills. Must be able to work independently, have effective time management and communication skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships with internal and external personnel. Must have the ability to learn quickly and comprehend business concepts related to credit and balance sheet risk. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
